Maximally selected chi square statistics

Web28 jun. 2003 · In this paper we derive a lower bound for the exact distribution of maximally selected rank statistics. Our result allows to compute conservative P -values for small sample sizes, which are frequent in various fields of application. The result holds for ties and censored observations. WebKolmogorov-Smirnov statistic. We simulated the small-sample null distribution of these statistics. The distributions of the maximally selected chi square statistic and the squared log odds ratio statistic are compared to each other and to the large-sample results of Miller and Siegmund (1982, Biometrics 38, 1011-1016.

The degrees of freedom for a χ 2 table are calculated with the formula: (Number of rows -1) x (Number of columns -1). For example, a 2 x 2 table has 1 df. (2-1) x (2-1) = 1.
