Web4 of the largest stockpiles would be getting near to 4000 logs. I generally convert them to fuel long before I have that many stockpiled. Much more efficient, storage wise. Prior to that, you need to set up a stockpile near your farmer's workshop for refuse->hair, then add the job to the shop when you see some items dropped off. This is mainly if you obtain hair from butchering animals.
