To me, this would have been a good feature to include in the Ascent, but was likely not implemented due to cost and complexity. CVTs may (fake) "shift" under acceleration because people like to feel the car accelerate in the same way a traditional torque converter automatic would. WebThen, the fake “gears” were short l, so it would shift often. If left in normal and not sport mode, it would drag the gears out longer and behave more like a true CVT. I appreciated that, but the throttle response was too laggy in normal, so I did not drive in that mode often. My cousin has a 2010 Maxima and it does not fake shift.

People in cars expect to feel a shift and it bugs them when they don't happen be so now they all fake shift. I tested one, it irritated me knowing.
