Rather than installing the ring terminals under the existing nuts on the car's battery-cable connectors (see CaymanMatt's pic #3 above), I slipped the charging cable's (pigtail) ring terminals over the exposed threads behind the existing nut on the car's battery-cable connectors, and secured each with a second nut.
